Many, many years ago the author was born -wIth the help of a midwife - in one of the two upstair bedrooms in this house. As can be seen it - now abandoned but structurally intact - is located in a rural area of Ireland.
In it lived his father, principal of the local boy's school in which his mother also taught.
The house was provided by the parish and was known as 'The Teacher's Residence'.
